Box Çonstruction

We love making things out of boxes in Team 20. Usually we have to make some thing that is to do with our big book but on a Friday we can make anything!
Today we made robot costumes and some of us worked together to create a car. It is very cool. It has keys, number plates, a drink holder and even an ice cream holder. We worked together very well.

Morning tea meetings with Mr Sibson

Dear Mr Sibson,

We think that it is not fair that people who have their birthday's in the holidays don't get to have a special morning tea with you.

We want to see if we can arrange a morning tea with the people who have their birthdays in the holidays. Do you think we could talk more about this so we can figure it out?

Learning about our need for love

One of the things we learnt today was that everyone has the need for love. We all meet this need in many ways. Here are some of our ideas.

Lucy - by reading a story with my mum and Dad before I go to bed.
Will - by cuddles with my mum.
Finn - by play fighting with my Dad.
Nicholas - by sharing things with my sister.
Austin - by playing nicely with my brothers.
Clara - by talking on the phone to my Aunty and cousin. I also meet my need for love by playing games with
Mum.
Hamish - by reading books before bed time with Mum or Dad and snuggling in bed and HUGS.
Zach - by reading with Mum and Dad.
Samuel - by play fighting with my big brother.
Isabella - by helping Dad to paint the house.
Josh - by dressing up with my Dad and getting my plastic sword and playing with him.
Yusuf - when my Dad cooks I help him.
Nick - by playing with my friends.
Flynn - by thinking nice things about others. I also meet my need for love by letting other people join in. By being fair to others.
Eden - by kissing my mum.
William - by cuddling my mum and dad.
Charlotte - I help my mum around the house.
Payton - When I go to bed my mum gives me a kiss.
Jasmine - by helping my family to tidy up.
Rob - by cuddling my daughter Isabella.
Jack - by playing with my friends.
Georgia - by going shopping with my Mum and Dad. When I come home I say "I love you" to Mum and Dad.

Harold and Life Education

In the Life Ed caravan we learned about the parts of our body. We learned that the brain helps us think and the heart pumps the blood. We learned that the stomach munches and crunches our food, the lungs help us breathe, the small intestine squeezes the food and goes through small holes and into the blood. Harold calls water brain juice. We looked at Tam, a plastic doll and could see all the body parts inside.
Harold showed us a movie about looking after ourselves. We all need; food, water, safety, oxygen, sleep, exercise and love.

Reflection - trust and worms

Today we talked about what trust is. We think that trust is when:
  • you believe a person can do something.
  • you can give a person something, for example tell them a secret, and they will look after it.
  • people are honest.
What do you think trust is and how do you know when you can trust someone?

Lucy brought a worm farm to school. This is really cool! She fed the worms lettuce and here are some photos.

Two Bunnies by Charlotte

One day two bunnies went to the hills. They found a pile of mud and one of the bunnies was heard to say, “Look at the mud, come and see the mud it is brown just like me.”

The frogs were down at the pond and one frog saw some grass. One of the frogs was heard to say, “Look at the grass, the grass is green just like me.”

Reflection - rainy day

Today some of us finished our publishing boxes and our stories to go on the wall. We also started to make our first tally chart without a sheet. It was hard.

Something else we did was to retell the story we read with Claire yesterday. This was really hard. Eden was really good at retelling that story.

In handwriting we set goals that we want to improve on.
We all did great work.

My Grandma by Clara

My Grandma has three dogs because one died. It was called Bardo. The other big dog was called Monet and the little girl is called Pia and the little boy is called Matisse.

Same and Different

We have been learning about being the same and different. We are not all the same. We might have different hair and eye colours. We are all good at something different. We all dance to different music. We all do different things. We all like different things.

There are things that are the same about all people. We all bleed, we all cry, we all love, we all laugh, we all feel, we all breathe, we all see.

We all need to believe in ourselves then we can do things.

Here are some photos showing our work in being the same and different.

Reflections on our first few weeks

Here is a new tool we will be learning to support our learning. The first step is to get everyone's picture into it (which we've done), the next step is to get children and adults recording their thoughts into it. You can record your voice or just type your ideas as comments.

Holiday Highlight Writing

This is our first piece of writing for the year. The guide was to use the yellow thinking hat to recall their favourite holiday activity.

This is the edited version of the first draft.

It's purpose was to refresh their thinking of the writing process; thinking, planning, writing and checking.

Here are Team20's thoughts about the hiolidays.

The best thing in the holidays was seeing my cousins. Their names were Cam and ZeeZee. It was fun playing with them. My Aunty came over from England. She came with us to Torbay.
By Isabella

The best thing about the holidays was going on the boat with our friends. Sophie and me went for a biscuit ride behind the boat.
By Charlotte

When I went to Treasure Island I got the treasure. Inside there was a ring and some skittles, pirate hats, lollipops and marshmallows and freddo frogs. I didn’t get sick because pirates share.
By Flynn

I saw Eden and Cass with Lily and Emily. We saw Eliza. We went to my home and we played on the tramp.
By Abby

I went to the best camp at Treasure Island. We went to have some fun. The next time we went we got treasure. My favourite was the skittles.
By Jack

The best thing was when I went to swimming at Aqua-gym. I am in the blue team. We do arm circles and a ball float. We also breathe on the side and we do caterpillars to the end of the pool. I like Aqua-gym. They have snake lollies there. Aqua-gym is fun.
By Clara

I went to Diamond Harbour with Anna, Chris and Georgia. We went to a café.
