I am in the staffroom with Rob and other mothers learning to blog so we can interact with your learning. It is fun.

Reflection - What is a sentence?

Today we talked about what a sentence is. Here are some of our initial ideas:

• It's like a group of words like 'once upon a time...' Finn.
• Something that happens that you don't know what it is in a sentence - Georgia.
• It's like your writing, like some words that have a capital letter at the start and a full stop at the end. Clara.

Here are some examples of sentences:

• At the end of the day everyone could have lollipops. William and added to by Georgia.
  
• The red bit by itself is not a sentence. Why is this?

We are wondering what is it about a group of words that makes them a sentence???? Make comments to this blog post with your ideas.

The Two Little Pigs by Jasmine

Once upon a time there lived two little pigs and a big bad wolf. While the pigs were driving in their car they stopped at the very side of the footpath and walked with a smile on their faces. They kept on walking until they stopped. They looked both ways and then they started to walk across the road. They were at last there. “Aaahhh, we are here now.” Said the first little pig. “Now we will start our work” said the second pig. “ I’m going to make my house out of straw” said the first pig. While those pigs were doing that they sang quietly “ we are pigs, we are pigs and we are not scared of anyone”. The bad wolf sprang out. The little pigs raced into their house, the bad wolf stamped his feet . He ran to the first little pig’s house and said” little pig, little pig let me in”. The first pig said “ not by the hair of my chinny chin chin”. “Then I will puff and I’ll puff until I blow your house down”. The house got blown down. The first little pig ran to the second little pig’s house and went in. The wolf rushed to the second pig’s house. “ Little pig, little pig let me in” said the wolf. “ Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin” said the little pigs. “Then I will puff and huff till I blow your house down” said the wolf. But he couldn’t. He said to himself, I think I have run out of energy. That second little pig had a lot of amazing ideas. The wolf said that he shall keep going and go down the chimney. “ Aarrrhhhh, my bottom is on fire”. He ran deep into the dark woods and the pigs lived happily ever after.

A long time ago there was a little man whose name was Rumplestiltskin. A girls father asked "can you spin straw into gold?" said the father to the prince. He scampered away to the forest and it was very dark and very fierce and dark.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears by Nick

One day the three bears woke up and made their porridge. They found out that their porridge was too hot so they went for a huge walk in the forest. a little girl called Goldilocks saw a huge cottage. She walked inside and she saw three bowls of porridge. She said "daddy's porridge is too hot, mummy's porridge is too cold, baby's porridge is just right'.

Her legs got sore and she went and sat on daddy bears chair. She said "this chair is too hard, mummy bears chair is too squishy. Baby bears chair is just right". Then she got super tired and she went upstairs. She hopped onto daddy bears bed. His bed was too hard. Mummy bears bed is too fluffy. Baby bears bed was just right. Then the three bears came home and they saw Goldilocks sleeping in the little bears bed. She woke up suddenly and ran all the way home. The three bears came rushing after that fast old Goldilocks.
